The Regals Musical Society is a community-based, non-profit group in Sydney, Australia, which strives to produce three quality musical-theatre productions each year. The Regals has a proud history, and has been producing musical shows for over sixty years.
Our two major shows are held in May and October each year at the Rockdale Town Hall, on the Princes Highway. We have also recently begun producing a smaller show each year in February. This smaller show allows The Regals to foster the talent of its members, and is performed in both Kogarah and Milton.
Rehearsals are generally held on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Rockdale Church of Christ, from 8pm.
Members participate in all aspects of stage productions: everything from planning and developing shows through to bringing them to life on stage. Our members are engaged in every part of the show, including building sets, acting as stage crew behind the scenes, selling tickets, and assisting patrons in the Front of House. While many of our members enjoy treading the boards, there are so many things to be involved in that singing and performing are not requirements for joining the society. The Regals also has a very active social life, with many fun-filled events planned in the lead-up and during each show.
Many of our members have progressed to become directors, choreographers and musical directors for ourselves and other societies. Some have also gone on to perform professionally in Australian musical theatre. Many of us can also be seen acting in advertisments and as extras in film and television.
New members are always welcome - contact us by email/post or just come along and see us at one of our events!
